Welcome to Wren Class
Who’s who in Wren Class
A big hello from Wren Class!
In Reception, our Discovery Curriculum includes: Journeys, Dinosaurs and Globe trotters. Every half term, we choose our ‘Favourite Five’ books that we use to develop not only a love of reading, but to inspire our learning through a range of engaging activities. Some of our ‘favourite five’ books across the year include: Owl Babies, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Snail and the Whale, Naughty Bus, How to Catch a Star, Supertato, Bringing the Rain to Kapati Plain, Commotion in the Ocean, Goldilocks and the Three Bears along with many more. For more details about our curriculum this year, please have a look at our curriculum map.
Children learn both in our indoor and outdoor environments, through a balance of child led and adult led activities. This enables us to plan according to the children’s interests but also expose them to a rich and varied curriculum.
We use Tapestry to record the children’s individual learning journey with us and Class Dojo to support home/school communication. On Class dojo you can message the teacher directly and view photos and videos to see what they have been learning together as a class.
Towards the end of the year, we complete a EYFS profile which informs both parents and teachers about the development of their child in their Early Learning Goals and the characteristics of their learning. This enables a supportive and smooth transition into Key Stage One.
