In Year 3, our Discovery curriculum allows us to engage with lots of different and exciting learning. Some of the things we learn about are; rocks and soils, French, colours and shapes, our local world around us, The Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages, forces and even prehistoric art! We have lots more to explore too! If you want to know more about the different elements of our Discovery curriculum, then please check out the curriculum map.
Our Maths and English topics are exciting and engaging – they allow us to develop new skills while building on previously learnt skills too. we love to learn collaboratively as well as developing our independence in learning too after making the jump from KS1 into KS2.
We use Charanga for our music learning. We compare and contrast songs from a certain genre and then learn a song from that genre. Throughout the year, we look at RnB, Reggae, Disco and classical musical styles and learn to use the glockenspiel.
We use Accelerated Reader and Bug Club to support our reading in school and at home. We take reading quizzes to help us deepen our comprehension.
To support our multiplication and division fluency we use programs such as Times Tables Rock Stars to help us practise in school and at home.
We use Class Dojo to communicate with home. This allows us to upload images of learning in school and update parents / carers with any important information. For the latest information please see our newsletter for this term.
If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me via Class Dojo or the school office. Mr Gooch
