Who’s who in Ducklings

Welcome to Duckling Class

This is our Nursery Class at Westfield Primary Academy. We take children from their third birthday up until they start school.

We are lucky to have a wonderful, large, open space classroom with a book corner, art area, purpose built toilets, messy play area and cooking facilities.

Our outdoor space is spacious with plenty of room to explore our natural world, develop our physical skills and build on our social and communication skills.

All of our learning is play based, multi-sensory and interactive. We follow the interests and personal needs of our children to allow for learning to be bespoke and ensure all children make progress in all areas of the Early Years curriculum.

Our Nursery children are offered weekly forest school, cooking sessions, messy play, music lessons as well as early phonic and number learning.

Our online learning platforms, Dojo and Tapestry, allow for parents to be regularly updated on their child’s learning and what they enjoy doing during their time in Duckling class. We value the input of parents and work hard to form relationships with families to ensure we give children the best start as well as supporting the wider community.

It is our pleasure to support children at the start of their learning journey and we work hard to promote school readiness. We offer lots of opportunities to allow children to become familiar with our school environment (for example – visiting our school library, attending school assemblies and using the school hall for PE). We pride ourselves in offering a friendly, nurturing and welcoming environment for children to flourish emotionally, socially and academically
