A big hello from Wren Class!
At our school, Reception is an exciting journey of discovery and growth, guided by the CUSP Early Foundations curriculum. Every week, your child will dive into a brand-new story during our daily Structured Story Times, sparking curiosity and imagination. These stories are the heart of our learning, inspiring a wide range of fun and meaningful activities that connect with all seven areas of Early Years learning: Communication and Language, Physical Development, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design.
Our carefully chosen books bring themes to life, from the changing seasons in The Squirrel Who Squabbled, to the adventures of transport in William Bee’s Things That Go, the delicious fun of Mr Wolf’s Pancakes for Shrove Tuesday, the wonders of nature in Winnie-the-Pooh Helps the Bees, and important lessons about inclusivity in Standing Up to Racism. These stories help children explore the world around them while developing essential skills.
From day one, your child will begin learning phonics through the proven Sounds-Write programme, alongside engaging maths lessons delivered through CUSP Early Foundation Maths. Our bright, airy indoor classrooms and spacious outdoor areas provide the perfect setting for a balanced mix of child-led exploration and focused adult-led teaching. Short, interactive carpet sessions focus on phonics, maths, and literacy, while the rest of the day is filled with hands-on learning through continuous provision, nurturing independence and a love of learning.
We believe in strong home-school partnerships, which is why we use Class Dojo to keep you connected. You’ll receive regular updates, see your child’s learning portfolio, and be able to communicate directly with the class teacher, ensuring you’re always involved in your child’s early education journey.
As your child progresses through Reception, we complete an EYFS Profile assessment that celebrates their achievements and development against the Early Learning Goals. This detailed insight helps both you and their Year 1 teachers support a smooth, confident transition into Key Stage One.
Join us in Reception, where every day is a new adventure filled with learning, laughter and growth!
