Enrichment
Our Enrichment Offer
At Westfield we believe education is about more than excellent teaching in English and maths. Enrichment and extraordinary experiences broaden children’s learning, build character and life skills, and help pupils become confident, curious citizens who are “Being The Best They Can Be.”
Our school values — Courage, Determination, Inspiration, Excellence and Respect — shape every enrichment opportunity. Each activity is chosen to develop those qualities and to give every pupil a richer school experience both inside and beyond the curriculum.
What every pupil will experience
Every child at Westfield will have the opportunity to:
- Learn to play an instrument and take part in musical performances.
- Learn to swim.
- Take part in sports tournaments, Sports Day and other competitions.
- Participate in school productions and stage performances.
- School Discos
- Join clubs and after-school activities that extend learning and wellbeing.
- Take part in charity and fundraising events.
- Cook and design in DT, including following and creating recipes.
- Learn basic sewing and practical skills.
- Visit libraries, museums, galleries and religious buildings.
- Go on local visits and residential educational trips, including coastal and farm visits.
- Explore animals, habitats and the natural world.
- Take part in British Science Week, World Book Day and Internet Safety Day.
- Learn about different careers, countries, cultures and languages.
- Take part in democratic activities and pupil voice events (voting, campaigns).
- Visit local care homes and link with older members of the community.
- Develop personal, social and relationship skills through taught sessions and practical experiences.
- Take pride in creative work and learn about a range of artists and art movements.
Our enrichment toolkit ensures every child accesses a balanced mix of arts and culture, sport and outdoor adventure, civic engagement and life‑skills activities. These experiences are monitored so we can remove barriers and make sure all pupils benefit from the full Westfield entitlement.
